Recovering Deleted AOL Mail
If while you check AOL mail and accidentally delete a piece of email from your mailbox, you have 24 hours to recover it. Just go to the Mail menu and select “Recently Deleted Email” to see a list of email you've deleted. You can find the email you deleted and put it back in your In Box. However, email you delete from your Spam folder is permanently gone and cannot be recovered.

I have a similar problem. Except, when I tried to place the spam email into the ' this is not spam ' folder, the email did not take into the ' new ' folder. It just disappeared.
I read this email before the incident, and I hear because of this, it may be possible to recover it. How? I don't know. The site did not explain further. Its a sales site. And a recovery type program must be purchased for retrieval.
