"Recommendations" is a service of AOL music to help members find out about music or artists whose music they would enjoy. It helps members find additional music of a style that the user would enjoy. To use Instant Recommendations, go to the "Artists" menu on the top of any Music channel page, and select "Get Artist Recommendations." Then type in the name of a band or artist and click "Recommend." You'll see a list of artists or bands with music similar to the artist you entered.
Use keyword “music” to reach a vast storehouse of music and information at AOL music. Not only can you download songs, you also have access to artist biographies, expert and member ratings, discographies and more. The archive has over 500,000 artist pages crammed with information on your favorite songs and musicians.
If you'd rather listen to a song before you download it or buy the CD, you can play music and videos from many areas of AOL Music. Look for the Listen to Song and Watch Video links. You can also play music and videos directly from an artist's Audio/Video page. AOL music online also provides a comprehensive list of songs you can choose from.
When you come right down to it, there is no substitute for live music. AOL music is a good source for concert and tour tickets purchased through AOL music online. And if you happen to have tickets to a concert that you can't use, you can use StubHub to find a buyer for your tickets.
AOL music's vast Archive of thousands of songs, videos and Sessions@AOL performances is a fantastic tool for music lovers. Enter the Archive, by clicking on the "Artists" menu on the top of any Music channel page and select "Artists A-Z." Select a music category and an artist. When the results appear, choose from among the videos, songs or performances listed on the right. Songs with a "speaker" icon include a sound file; AOL music videos show a "movie camera" icon. Click the blue "Play" button to play.
AOL music supports downloading music. AOL music downloads give you access to over half a million songs directly to your computer and burn them to CDs. With iTunes, you can even download songs to an Apple iPod. However, before you can get started downloading songs, you'll need to install iTunes or MusicNet on your computer.
AOL music carries ratings of artists as well as albums. You can share your opinion about a particular artist by rating them. A rating option is available on the artist's Main page. To locate a particular artist, you can search for them using the Music Search feature. Click on the "You Rate It" link and fill in the necessary information. Most ratings are posted immediately; however, they may take up to 24-48 hours to display.
Some portions of AOL music feature a "Browse by Attribute" option. The Browse by Attribute feature is related to the AOL Instant Recommendations where you can search for similar artists and albums based on specific attributes, such as vocal matches, musical styles, and more. You select the attributes, and AOL music will help you find similar music.
To find an artist, video, song or album, on AOL music type its name in the "Music Search" box on the top of any Music Channel page. Then select the type of content you're seeking and click "Go." If you've searched for an artist, the AOL music online results page will let you choose from the 500,000 artist pages available in the archive.
Consumer reviews have become a huge part of online commerce. AOL music provides ways for members to post their own album reviews. You can write and post a review directly from an album's Reviews page. To locate a particular album, search for it using the Music Search feature. From the album's Main page, click the Reviews tab, and fill in the appropriate fields.
